Skills & Projects
Here I will highlight a few of the accomplishments I have achieved both in my former workplaces as well as my current. In addition, I will outline a few of the projects I have been involved with, and a few of my current goals.

In each of my jobs I have had to learn a new form of software. Here are a few examples:
-
Various forms of software used to ring in orders at restaurants, both in the small business setting and at a corporate restaurant.
-
Refining and managing a website used to upload books and other merchandise that the bookstore/coffee shop I worked for used. In addition it was vital to learn and understand how to tie that website with the quantity tracking software that we used in-store so they both reflected realistic stock accurately.
-
Reservation software in two forms at a campground. The first was an online reservation system where interested parties could request a reservation, and the other was the software that we used on a daily basis to assign parties to their sites strategically to not only meet the requests of our guests but to also maximize the number of full sites we had each day.
-
Payment systems - From different credit card machines, to physical cash registers, to online payment systems in which we could store payment information, I had to learn not only how to use them effectively but how to balance them all out at the end of the day with no errors.
-
EPIC software through Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital and most recently, Eaglesoft software at Lakewinds Dental Centre. Each of these systems required a minimum of two weeks formal training, as well as consistent recurring training. Both of these were used to store patient information, medical charts, lab results, imaging, and both are used for scheduling accurately.

Currently I am working for Lakewinds Dental Centre in Ludington, Michigan. Here are a few of my responsibilities and achievements:
-
My current title is Scheduling Coordinator. In addition to having to learn how to strategically schedule to meet goals as well as schedule to make patient care cohesive and effective, I am also required to learn how to navigate and become proficient in the world of dental insurance. Before each patient comes in it is my job to check their insurance not only to make sure that it is active, but to also make sure I am well-versed in their coverages. Unlike many places, my team has made it a priority to always ensure that our patients have the best idea possible to understand what costs they will be facing. We never want to blindside patients with the cost of their treatment, and by giving them the best idea of financial requirements possible we are able to ensure that they can set up the best plan possible with us to keep not only their mouth healthy, but their entire body.
-
A few of the insurance companies that I have become the most well-versed in are: Delta Dental, Cigna, MetLife, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and United Concordia.
-
When I first started at Lakewinds I made it my goal to refine all of the Excel spreadsheets that we use to keep track of our daily, weekly, monthly, and annual finances. After working with these spreadsheets I now have them set up with formulas so all of the additions and subtractions that we have to do are now done automatically, which ensures accuracy and saves the team time.

Here is a brief excerpt from my latest Review report from my Team Leader. For the full report, feel free to contact me.
"Spencer has made significant advances in her understanding and use of dental insurance. She has continued to go above and beyond to ensure that the estimates we provide to patients are as accurate as possible. She has made it a priority to check every patient's insurance before their appointment, and to contact patients in the event that their insurance benefits are either inactive or less than what the patient is used to. In addition she has contributed to the team by making the team more cohesive and effective. Her organization skills and ability to tackle projects head-on in addition to her normal workload have been both beneficial, and impressive."
